We can end new HIV infections among children by 2015 and ensure women living with HIV stay healthy through pregnancy, delivery and breastfeeding. UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé made this call to action in 2009 and we now have the commitment of world leaders outlined in the Global Plan. But the clock is ticking—and we can’t get from 390,000 babies born with HIV to zero without you.

Help mobilize the world to put an end to new HIV infections among children by 2015 and to ensure women living with HIV stay healthy through pregnancy, delivery and breastfeeding.

  • Each year about 390 000 children become newly infected with HIV in low- and middle-income countries. In 2010, world leaders committed to ending new HIV infections among children and keeping women living with HIV healthy through pregnancy, delivery and breastfeeding. Do your part!
  • In 2010, an estimated 250,000 children younger than 15 years of age died of HIV-related causes. Most of those children were under the age of five and more than 90% lived in sub-Saharan Africa. I believe we can get to zero.
  • Send a beautiful mom-baby card, to tell your friends that you believe we can end new HIV infections among children by 2015.
