Guidance on provider-initiated HIV testing and counselling in health facilities (2007)

This document responds to growing need at country level for basic operational guidance on provider-initiated HIV testing and counselling in health facilities. It is intended for a wide audienceincluding policy-makers, HIV/AIDS programme planners and coordinators, health-care providers, non-governmental organizations providing HIV/AIDS services and civil society groups.

Rapid HIV tests: Guidelines for use in HIV testing and counselling services in resource-constrained settings (2004)

These guidelines explore the role for rapid HIV tests in efforts to ensure increased access to HIV testing in resource constrained settings. The advantages of rapid tests are described, in addition to several practical considerations for HIV testing services. The document also examines issues concerning the accuracy of test kits and testing algorithms. (WHO)

Integrating HIV voluntary counselling and testing services into reproductive health settings Stepwise guidelines for programme planners, managers and service providers (2004)

This guide provides sexual and reproductive health programme planners, managers, and providers with the information necessary to integrate voluntary counselling and testing for HIV within their services. The cost of establishing voluntary counselling and testing services within existing sexual and reproductive health settings is lower than establishing them in freestanding sites. (IPPF, UNFPA)
