The UNAIDS web site is published in the four official languages of UNAIDS English, French, Spanish and Russian and is managed by the UNAIDS Secretariat Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. By default, content of a page or document is displayed in English and over time progressively will appear in French, Spanish, and Russian.
Languages evolve all the time and UNAIDS recognizes that even within a language there can be vast regional differences in vocabulary and expressions. UNAIDS consults widely with technical experts, linguists and translators to agree a consensus on language use.
Terminology too is evolving constantly and UNAIDS staff members work closely with colleagues in the Programme’s ten cosponsoring organizations, and other partners working in the global response to HIV to review and update specific terminology.
