Djibril Diallo, Director, Regional Support Team for West and Central Africa, UNAIDS

With over 30 years’ experience in international relations and diplomacy, Djibril Diallo has spearheaded initiatives for global advocacy of HIV. Mr Diallo has helped to advance the corporate policy on shared responsibility and global solidarity and UNAIDS’ vision of getting to zero and has worked closely with senior management to provide support in the political mobilization of prominent personalities, political leaders, civil society organizations and the media. He led the innovative Protect the Goal campaign to promote AIDS awareness and prevention around major sporting tournaments.

Prior to joining UNAIDS, Mr Diallo served as the Director of the United Nations New York Office of Sports for Development and Peace from 2004 to 2008, as the Director of the Communications Office of the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme from 1995 to 2005 and as a Special Adviser to the Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund for nine years. A citizen of Senegal, Mr Diallo earned a PhD in linguistics and communication from the University of London.
