Second Independent Evaluation of UNAIDS

Two smiling boys

The Second Independent Evaluation (SIE) was commissioned by the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board (PCB) in December 2007 to: “Assess the efficacy, effectiveness and outcomes of UNAIDS (including the UNAIDS Secretariat, the PCB and the Cosponsors) at global, regional and country levels

The Evaluation Team presented its report to the 25th Programme Coordinating Board meeting in December 2009 which resulted in 23 agreed recommendations covering all aspects of UNAIDS work. Work is currently underway across the Joint Programme to implement the agreed recommendations with the goal of maintaining UNAIDS' position as the leader of the global AIDS response. The Implementation Plan for the Evaluation is available and will be the subject of ongoing updating and revision as the implementation process continues.
