Liaison Offices

UNAIDS has Liaison Offices in New York, Brussels, Addis Ababa and Washington D.C. which link with various intergovernmental bodies, officials of governments, elected officials in these locations.

New York Liaison Office

The mandate of the UNAIDS Liaison Office in New York is to inform and engage the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council, the UN Secretariat, the UN Chief Executive Board, Inter-agency working Group on AIDS, Permanent Missions to the UN and New York Based civil society organisation to ensure that the global AIDS pandemic is effectively addressed by them as a priority.

Washington D.C. Liaison Office

The mandate of the UNAIDS Liaison Office in Washington is to inform and engage  policy makers in the US Government and other key US stakeholders, both public and private, on UNAIDS’ policy objectives to ensure that the global AIDS pandemic is effectively addressed by them as a priority.

African Union Liaison Office, Addis Ababa

The mandate of the UNAIDS Liaison Office to the African Union is to shape the relations between UNAIDS, the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, to ensure that the global AIDS pandemic is effectively addressed by them as a priority.

European Union Liaison Office, Brussels

The mandate of the UNAIDS Liaison Office to the European Union is to shape the relationship between UNAIDS and the European Union institutions, engage in a policy dialogue its Member States and civil society organizations located in Brussels, and to ensure that the global AIDS pandemic is effectively addressed by them as a priority.
