- Zimbabwe: an HIV prevention success story
- HIV prevalence in Zimbabwe has declined remarkably in recent years, dropping from 26% to 14% between 1997 and 2009. In a recent edition of the journal PLoS Medicine, researchers explored the reasons for this decline and examined what lessons can be learned and replicated.

- Methadone substitution therapy helps prevent new HIV infections in Belarus
- Substitution therapy with methadone was introduced in Belarus three years ago and has since expanded from one pilot clinic to a network of centres. Today, over 450 people in eight cities across the country are receiving treatment on a daily basis.
