The Mission of the Office of the Chief Scientific Adviser to UNAIDS is to lead UNAIDS science strategy, with a focus on novel biomedical HIV prevention and emerging scientific information with relevance for policy and programming. It also develops guidance and tools for country implementation of proven novel HIV prevention tools and provides policy setting and strategic scientific advice to support country, regional, and global action on HIV. Furthermore, the office builds the capacity of UNAIDS staff across the programme for knowledge translation so that they provide scientifically-based strategic inputs to policy formulation and programming.
