Top scientists discuss global health challenges in Boston

The 2008 Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science has opened in Boston, USA. The five-day conference which runs from 14-18 February will bring together science and technology professionals from 56 countries to discuss the latest scientific breakthroughs and challenges.

At the end of a two-day consultation held in Geneva, health experts from international agencies, non-governmental and research organizations, universities and industry agreed on a series of steps aimed at ensuring HIV trials and interventions are designed and implemented to reflect more closely the needs of women.

The 4th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention came to a close in Sydney today. Over 5,000 delegates from 133 countries came together for the four-day conference to examine the latest developments in HIV-related research.

The Department of Global Health and Socio-epidemiology at Kyoto University has become a ‘UNAIDS Collaborating Centre’, following a signing ceremony between the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and the Kyoto University that took place in Japan on October 12th 2006.
