Programme Effectiveness and Country Support Department

The Programme Effectiveness and Country Support Department leads in supporting effective programming of the AIDS response, including in humanitarian and security settings, in order to achieve Universal Access and the MDGs. It undertakes analysis and provides guidance and technical support to countries in developing and implementing evidence based national AIDS plans and strengthens national capacity for the effective coordination, management and review of the response. The Department works to strengthen UN system coherence, efficiency and relevance in support of the national response and leads on issues of both programmatic and aid effectiveness. It facilitates technical support and capacity building and partners with all stakeholders, particularly the Global Fund and PEPFAR, to ensure the effective and integrated use of financial resources.

The Department comprises the Strategic Country Support and the Aid Effectiveness and Country Capacity divisions. Mr Tim Martineau is the Director of the Department.
