Mr Tim Martineau, Director, Programme Effectiveness and Country Support
Mr Tim Martineau is the Director for Programme Effectiveness and Country Support. Mr Martineau joined UNAIDS in 2006, first working as the Director of the Executive Office, before taking up his current position in May, 2008.
As Director for Programme Effectiveness and Country Support position, Mr Martineau leads in the coordination of country and regional support, overseas the UNAIDS Secretariats support for joint UN teams and programmes on AIDS and takes forward its relationship with the Global Fund and PEPFAR.
New areas of work for the Programme Effectiveness and Country Support Department include an enhanced focus on building country ownership and accountability in the AIDS response, as well as effective approaches for the optimal deployment of the Secretariats human and financial resources at country level.
Prior to joining UNAIDS Mr Martineau worked with the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development in a number of country and regional posts, advising on bilateral health and AIDS programmes.
Mr Martineau is a qualified nurse and has a degree in Social Sciences as well as a Masters in Health Policy and Planning from the Nuffield Institute at Leeds University in the UK.
