The Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of Luxemburg, Marie-Josée Jacobs stepped down this week after close to four years in the position and after eighteen years as Minister for Family Affairs and social inclusion.
UNAIDS joins with Luxembourg to respond to the humanitarian crisis in the Sahel

The humanitarian crisis in the Sahel is affecting the lives of millions of people across the region. In eight countries stretching from Chad in the East to Senegal in the West, countries, communities and families are faced with a combination of political instability, drought, poverty, high grain prices, environmental degradation and chronic underdevelopment which has resulted in high levels of malnutrition and insecurity.
UNAIDS and Luxembourg foster joint action on AIDS

The Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has been a long-standing champion of the AIDS response both in its domestic approach to the epidemic and through its support to countries most affected by HIV. It has also been committed to supporting UNAIDS in terms of sustained funding as well as political support.
