Mission to India

UNAIDS Executive Director Dr Peter Piot ended a weeklong country mission to India, where he participated in several events involving civil society groups, the business sector, government and people living with HIV and AIDS. Dr Piot addressed the first-ever National Student and Youth Parliament Special Session on HIV/AIDS, held in New Delhi on 6-7 November. More than 3000 young people from across India came together to deliberate and present to the Government their recommendations on the draft law on HIV/AIDS. The event was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
