Statement by the Secretary-General on his meeting with Pharmaceutical Executives on HIV/AIDS (http://www.un.org/apps/sg/sgstats.asp?nid=2147)
Secretary-General Kofi Annan (centre) met with the heads of the world's leading generic and research based pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies working on HIV/AIDS.
UNAIDS Executive Director Dr Peter Piot (third from left) was also present.
Among the goals of the meeting were to review the industry's progress in recent years in contributing to the global response to AIDS and to discuss how the United Nations and companies can do more together to expand access to HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support services in low- and middle-income countries.
