- A High Level Meeting side event called Faith-based action to achieve universal access: Confronting the impact of funding cutbacks and advocating for the special needs of mothers and children living with HIV was held on 8 June.

- On Tuesday 21st September, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria organized an event entitled “Champions for Global Health - Financing the health related MDGs”. - Continuing UNAIDS' efforts to end mother-to-child transmission of HIV by 2015, earlier today, UNAIDS Deputy Executive Director, Management and External Relations Branch, Ms Jan Beagle addressed a meeting of funders already committed to this action, at a side event of the XVIII International AIDS Conference in Vienna.

- A bi-monthly debate series began on 19 May at the World Bank, with a discussion on what constitutes an effective "HIV test and treat" strategy. The high-level events will explore aspects of the constantly changing dynamics of the AIDS epidemic.

- The Central African Republic, one of the poorest countries in the world, has been heavily affected by the HIV epidemic. It is estimated that 160 000 people are living with HIV in the country, and only one in four of those in need have access to Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART).
- Lack of resources could undermine gains made in the HIV response in Pakistan
- Pakistan’s capacity to effectively respond to the HIV epidemic could be hindered due to the lack of resources to implement its revised National Strategic Framework. The framework, endorsed by partners involved in the response, provides evidence-based strategic direction to urgently address the increasing levels of HIV infection amongst injecting drug users (IDUs) and other populations through sexual transmission and avoid a spillover to the general population.

- The Board of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria concluded its 20th meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with the approval of new grants with a two-year commitment of US$2.4 billion.
