- CONDOMIZE! Campaign hits AIDS 2012
- There is a renewed emphasis on condoms at the XIX International AIDS Conference being held in Washington, DC from 22-27 July as a campaign promoting their use and availability. At the conference the CONODOMIZE! Campaign has been re-launched with the distribution of 850 000 condoms. The Campaign aims to highlight the effectiveness of this prevention commodity and calls for greater access to quality condoms as a primary defence against HIV.

- Sex workers in Bangkok are being trained to set up their own businesses in a new project spearheaded by the International Labour Organisation. The intervention is designed to challenge the economic vulnerability of sex workers and help them create additional forms of income generation.

- UNAIDS saddened by the death of Abel Shinana
- Abel Shinana, the late Coordinator of African Sex Workers Alliance in Namibia, was a courageous and vocal advocate for the rights of sex workers, people living with HIV and the LGBTI population. He was also a critical partner for both UNFPA and UNAIDS on efforts to address HIV among sex workers at both country and global levels.
