- Le contexte de cette conférence diffère essentiellement de celui de toutes les autres réunions de ce genre. Je suis convaincu, profondément, que nous avons pour la première fois une chance de prendre de l'avance sur l'épidémie. Nous le devons tant aux progrès de la science qu'à l'activisme de la décennie écoulée. Mais le défi persiste ; et nous devons encore agir plus et mieux sur l'un et l'autre plan afin d'arriver à un succès complet.

- Today, drug injecting with contaminated equipment is the major HIV transmission mode in many countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America, and is also driving HIV transmission in North Africa and the Middle East.
