Francoise NDAYISHIMIYE, UNAIDS Country Director
My journey with UNAIDS has been and continues to be an exciting one ever since I joined the organization in 2012. What I love most about working for UNAIDS is its ultimate mission to save lives, and promote health equity for everyone, regardless of who they are.
As a person living with HIV myself, I feel proud to have held the position of Country Director in three different regions, leading from the front in the fight to end AIDS. I'm happy to wake up every morning believing that what I do, will makes a real difference to the lives of those who face challenges similar to mine.
Finally, I have great pleasure in working for an organization where respect, equity and feminism are the Modus Operandi.
Kai ZHOU, Policy and Strategy Adviser
The most exciting part of working at UNAIDS is gaining first-hand experience in addressing global health emergencies through a multidisciplinary approach. I’ve had the unique opportunity to collaborate and implement HIV response solutions with experts from governments, community groups, academic institutions, the private sector, and international bodies. This diverse exposure has strengthened my knowledge and leadership skills, preparing me for policy-making and strategy development roles in the sphere of human rights. Additionally, UNAIDS has pushed me to challenge myself to think out of the box while providing care and support to the people in need.”
Sandrine DIFFO, Team Lead, ICT Business Intelligence, Bonn Germany
A key mission of UNAIDS is to Maximize the Value of Data to drive strategic decisions that reduce inequalities and help end AIDS by 2030! It is an honor to lead the Business Intelligence team, as a woman leader in technology, and I’m thrilled to contribute directly to this goal. I’m constantly inspired by the multicultural team I work with and value UNAIDS’s focus on diversity, feminist principles, and inclusivity. If you thrive in a collaborative environment and love working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, all united by the mission of saving lives, UNAIDS is the place to be!
CLARISA BREZZO, Strategic Information Adviser - UCO Argentina, Chile, Paraguay & Uruguay
I have been working at UNAIDS since 2005 and from the start UNAIDS became part of my family. I work in a multi-country office (Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay) where each team member contributes to achieving our goals. Sometimes it’s challenging, sometimes it’s easier, but we keep moving forward together as a family, and this is what makes the difference.
UNAIDS has allowed me to grow a lot professionally, to get to know other cultures and ways of life, and to interact with multiple actors in the response to HIV (governments, academia, the private sector, other agencies of the United Nations system). Without a doubt, what makes the work of UNAIDS stand out, is the way we work so close to the communities that need the most support, whether they are people living with or affected by HIV, or groups of people with a specific vulnerability. Thanks to UNAIDS these populations have a voice, they have access, they know their rights, they participate in the response to the epidemic and that is the great added value and the impact that UNAIDS generates.
I enjoy being part of the UNAIDS family. I enjoy the challenges and the opportunities for action. But without a doubt what I am most passionate about is being able to engage with multiple actors, adding different voices, involving the greatest number of sectors to ultimately combine our efforts with a common and supreme objective: LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND.
Mar Angelo MENDOZA, Admin Associate
Working with UNAIDS has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The vibrant spirit of activism and advocacy that thrives within the organization has deeply inspired me and has been the key motivation for my 17 year long career at UNAIDS. As an Administrative Associate, leading a talented team of admin assistants within the Data for Impact department, every procurement process we manage and every meeting we organize directly affects—and often involves—people living with and impacted by HIV. What makes this work truly meaningful is seeing how our efforts directly benefit the communities we serve.
Currently, I’m supporting the Global Task Team, composed of a diverse group of government representatives, community leaders, and mathematical modelers, in setting the global targets to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Knowing that these targets shape national policies, influence domestic and international donors to contribute financial aid to the cause, and ultimately impact the lives of the people we serve, is profoundly fulfilling.
Snizhana KOLOMIIETS, Communications and Global Advocacy Adviser
I deeply believe that every life matters. That everyone—regardless of origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, income, HIV status, or lifestyle—has the right to live with dignity, respect, and access to essential health services. UNAIDS embodies this mission, and I am fully committed to helping achieve it. Working in communications for UNAIDS is both challenging and rewarding. It pushes my creativity while keeping me grounded through real connections with the communities we serve, allowing to see the human stories behind the statistics. The communications team is incredible—passionate, open-minded professionals dedicated to making a real impact. Many have personal ties to the causes we work on, fueling our shared determination. At UNAIDS, I’ve grown professionally and as a person, learning new skills daily and building meaningful connections that help me better advocate for those often left behind by the HIV response.
