В рамках официального визита в Никарагуа с целью ознакомления с последствиями СПИДа для женщин специальный представитель ЮНЭЙДС, Ее Королевское Высочество крон-принцесса Норвегии посетила рядовую организацию по СПИДу, работающую в сфере защиты прав человека, а также защиты сексуальных и репродуктивных прав женщин и детей. Посещение этой организации было одним из мероприятий четырехдневной пропагандистской поездки в регион, во время которой крон-принцесса получила возможность встретиться с различными группами и отдельными людьми, участвующими в борьбе со СПИДом, а также принять участие в V Центральноамериканском конгрессе по ВИЧ/СПИДу.

4th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention in Sydney

The Australian Society for HIV Medicine and the International AIDS Society were the hosts of the 4th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention.More than 5,000 delegates from 133 countries came together for the four-day conference to examine the latest developments in HIV biology, pathogenesis, treatment and prevention science.Emphasising the need to scale-up TB/HIV programmes Michel Sidibe, UNAIDS Deputy Executive Director of Programmes, UNAIDS said, "Urgent investment in TB research and programmes is needed if we are to avoid TB, and especially drug resistant TB, undoing all the advances we have gained through better AIDS treatment and care. All of our drugs, diagnostics and vaccines date from the last century or even the century before that."

Presentations included the roll out of antiretroviral treatment in the developing world and the need for research to inform treatment scale-up, HIV/TB co-infection, and ethical and practical issues related to HIV prevention research. 22-25 July 2007, Sydney, Australia.

Deputy Executive Director of Programmes at UNAIDS, Michel Sibide, participated in events around treatment, sustainability in the era of universal access, the TB/HIV co-epidemic and men who have sex with men in Asia. 22-25 July 2007, Sydney, Australia.

UNAIDS supported an emotive exhibition at the Sydney AIDS conference portraying, in words and pictures the double impact that TB and HIV has on people and communities in South Africa and Zambia.

Встреча организаций-исполнителей программ по ВИЧ/СПИДу, 2007 г.

Представители из более чем 50 стран собрались в Кигали 16-го июня на открытии встречи организаций-исполнителей программ по ВИЧ/СПИДу, проводимой правительством Руанды и при спонсорской поддержке ПЕПФАР (Чрезвычайного плана Президента США по оказанию помощи в связи со СПИДом), Глобального Фонда для борьбы со СПИДом, туберкулезом и малярией; Секретариата ЮНЭЙДС, ЮНИСЕФ, ВОЗ и Всемирного банка.

Тема этой встречи «Расширение масштабов деятельности через партнерство» отражает быстрое распространение программ против ВИЧ/СПИДа по всему миру. Организации-исполнители обменяются приобретенным опытом по наращиванию потенциала местных программ по профилактике, лечению и уходу, обеспечению контроля качества и координации действий. Этот форум позволит провести открытый диалог о дальнейших направлениях программ по ВИЧ/СПИДу, уделяя особое внимание вопросам практического осуществления программ, выявления серьезных препятствий, а также примерам лучшей практики.

Доноры, эксперты и организации-исполнители программ по СПИДу со всего мира собрались в Кигали, Руанда, на Встрече организаций-исполнителей программ по ВИЧ/СПИДу – 2007. Организатором встречи выступило правительство Руанды при спонсорской поддержке ПЕПФАР (Чрезвычайного плана Президента США по оказанию помощи в связи со СПИДом), Глобального Фонда для борьбы со СПИДом, туберкулезом и малярией; Секретариата ЮНЭЙДС, ЮНИСЕФ, ВОЗ и Всемирного банка.

В своей вступительной речи Его Превосходительство Президент республики Руанда перечислил имеющиеся на сегодняшний день достижения и рассказал о движущих силах прогресса. Он также настойчиво призвал к радикальным действиям по совершенствованию систем здравоохранения путем объединения усилий с партнерами в области развития и наращивания потенциала.

Мишель Сидибе, заместитель Исполнительного директора ЮНЭЙДС, выступил с речью от имени д-ра Питера Пиота, Исполнительного директора ЮНЭЙДС, выделив 5 ключевых стратегических направлений работы: выделение средств на программы и приоритеты, разрабатываемые и проводимые общинами, которые понимают характер своих эпидемий; расширение потенциала просветительской работы и социальных услуг и использование неоценимого ресурса общин и гражданского общества; переход от краткосрочных вмешательств к более долгосрочным стратегическим подходам; включение вопроса СПИДа в основу любой программы развития; а также расширение масштабов деятельности для достижения большей эффективности и результативности, избегая лишних затрат.

UN Plus meets UN Secretary General - Photo Gallery

As part of the 61st session of the General Assembly, UN Plus– the UN system-wide group of staff living with HIV– met with the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to brief him on the key achievements of the group since its inception in March 2005 and to discuss the opportunities and challenges that UN positive staff face at work.

During the meeting, a delegation of UN Plus members presented the Secretary General with specialized position papers covering four main issues of concern: stigma and discrimination, confidentiality, medical insurance, and travel restrictions and mobility. The group also made specific requests to the action items outlined in the papers. The meeting also served to evaluate the progress made on the concerned issues and discuss the way forward to improve the workplace environment for all people living with HIV working within the UN system.

Европейская конференция по СПИДу 2007 г.

Представители 27 стран Европейского союза и соседних стран встретились в Бремене, Германия, чтобы обсудить пути усиления политического руководства при осуществлении мер в ответ на СПИД. В конференции, организованной Федеральным правительством Германии как председателем Европейского союза на 2007 год, участвовали более 600 человек.

Исполнительный директор ЮНЭЙДС д-р Питер Пиот рассказал в день открытия конференции о развитии эпидемии в регионе и мерах, необходимых для сдерживания этой эпидемии. Во второй день конференции были проведены семинары по различным ключевым аспектам осуществления мер в ответ на СПИД в регионе, включая презентации по вопросам прав человека, миграции, стигмы, гендера и вопросам, касающимся секс-бизнеса, употребления инъекционных наркотиков и секса между мужчинами.

Joint UNAIDS / DFID delegation visit to India

AIDS leaders from the United Kingdom and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) came together in India for a joint mission to gain greater insight into the country’s AIDS response. During the four-day visit, Sir Suma Chakrabarti, Permanent Secretary at the Department for International Development (DFID) and Dr Peter Piot, Xecutive Director of UNAIDS met with political leaders, senior government officials and parliamentarians, students, representatives from non governmental organizations and from the donor community.

As part of the mission, the delegation visited Patna in the North Indian state of Bihar on Saturday 16 December where Dr Piot and Sir Chakrabarti noted the significant progress made in this province since their last visit, including the establishment of India’s first ‘Legislative Forum on HIV and AIDS’ to raise AIDS awareness among policy makers in the state and to build capacity to address the challenges posed by AIDS.

Some 260 participants gathered in Lusaka for the 19th Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS governing board meeting. The meeting brought together representatives from government, civil society, donors and the United Nations to push for greater UN action to strengthen country efforts against AIDS.

UNAIDS Executive Director Dr Peter Piot met with the Delegation from the Democratic Republic of the Congo during the PCB. The DRC has just completed its first democratic elections with the election of President Joseph Kabila. The DRC has been wracked by civil war for a number of years and the elections herald the start of a new era for the DRC. Dr Piot said in the opening plenary that the new era provides an opportunity to step up the pace of the AIDS response in the DRC.
