Stephan Grieb, UNAIDS Director for the Division of People and Culture
Stephan Grieb is the UNAIDS Director for the Division of People and Culture, responsible for Recruitment, Staff Administration, Culture, Learning and Performance Management, Internal Communication, Legal Affairs and Security. In this capacity, he leads initiatives aimed at fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment while ensuring organizational compliance and operational efficiency.
A national of Germany, Mr Grieb is a lawyer, who has spent almost three decades working for the United Nations in diverse functions ranging from Legal Affairs, Protection, Human Resources Management, Representation and HR Transformation.
Mr Grieb began his United Nations career as Senior Legal Officer at UNHCR, later serving as Senior Protection Officer and Representative in the Republic of Congo. He then became Chief of Policy and Administrative Law at UNICEF in New York, followed by acting HR Associate Director for two years, and subsequently served as UNICEF’s Area Representative for Gabon, Sao Tome and Principe, and ECCAS. Before joining UNAIDS two years ago, he was Deputy Director of Human Resources at UNHCR.
