More than 30 Heads of State, Government and Vice Presidents attended the UN High Level Meeting on AIDS from June 8th to 10th in New York City. The meeting closed with the adoption of a landmark political declaration, setting bold targets for the global AIDS response.

UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé attended the 2011 edition of the Life Ball in Vienna, Austria – one the world’s largest AIDS charity events. This year’s Life Ball focused on highlighting 30 years of the HIV epidemic.

The XVIII International AIDS Conference opened on Sunday 18 July in the city of Vienna. Austria has welcomed an estimated 20,000 delegates from all over the world to take part in conferences and satellite meetings under the theme “Rights Here, Right Now” selected to emphasize the critical connection between human rights and HIV.
