Reception in recognition of United Nations Deputy Secretary-General’s contribution to global health
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), UNAIDS and the Roll Back Malaria Partnership hosted a reception to recognize the contribution to global health made by Dr Asha-Rose Migiro, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General. Dr Migiro will conclude her mandate at the end of the month. UN Headquarters NY, 12 June 2012.

High-level visit to Zimbabwe highlights AIDS response progress
The UNAIDS Executive Director’s first official visit to Zimbabwe had a dual purpose: to meet with the country’s leadership on the country’s progress in the AIDS response and to participate in the launch of the GlobalPOWER Women Network Africa. The three-day visit took place in the capital Harare.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon leads a high-level mission to India
On 28 April, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon led a high-level mission to Mumbai, India in support of the Every Woman Every Child initiative. Mr Ban commended Indian officials for the progress made in the AIDS response and encouraged to continue efforts to eliminate new paediatric HIV infections by 2015.

Health.Right.Now. HIV prevention conference
“Health.Right.Now” was the theme of a conference held in Berlin on 21 November focusing on HIV prevention and human rights. Co-hosted by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Ministry of Health, the conference aimed to discuss ways to overcome the barriers many key populations at higher risk of HIV infection encounter when accessing HIV services.
